New Website Launched for California’s Department of Cannabis Control

July 13, 2021

Today, the website for California’s new Department of Cannabis Control, which was created by the consolidation of the Department of Consumer Affairs’ Bureau of Cannabis Control, the Department of Food & Agriculture’s CalCannabis Licensing Branch, and the Department of Public Health’s Manufactured Cannabis Safety Branch, was launched. This followed Governor Newsom’s signing of AB141, which we previously discussed here.

Governor Newsom also announced today that he has appointed Nicole Elliott (who has served as Newsom’s Senior Advisor on Cannabis at the Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development since 2019) to serve as the Director of the Department of Cannabis Control, among other appointments.
